Your induction program starts with ACU by exploring the Welcome to ACU booklet.
This resource provides you with essential information to support you to successfully navigate ACU as a new team member. The booklet includes an introduction to ACU, including Our History, Mission, Identity, Values and key information about the organisation.
The ACU Induction Program involves the completion of 4 online learning modules and 2 virtual workshops.
Completion of the Program provides you with core information about working at ACU, to support a successful start with the team.
There are 4 compulsory online modules to complete, each module provides overview of the expectations, policies and processes that have been put in place to ensure a safe, compliant and positive work environment.
1. Our Mission, Your Journey
This module provides general new starter information and is recommended to be completed first.
2.Work Health & Safety
Creating and maintaining a safe workplace environment is critical, we all have a role to play. This module provides an introduction to ACU Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and expectations.
3. Living the Code, everyday
It's important we all understand what's expected of us in the workplace. It's what we do that defines who we are. In this module you will explore the expected behaviour standards within our Code of Conduct and your role in maintaining a positive and safe work environment.
4. Managing Risk
The Managing Risk module introduces the key risks in the ACU workplace. It provides an overview of how these risks are managed, expectations of team members in managing the risks and where to find more information.
You can access the New Starter modules via the Staff Learning Hub under the 'My Induction' tile.
It is recommended that you set aside time (approximately 2 hours) in your calendar to work through the modules at your own pace. You can save your progress and return to the modules at any stage. All 4 induction modules are required be completed within the first month of your employment.
An important part of joining a new team is understanding the team culture and how you can contribute to it. To support your journey at ACU we have designed 2 short workshops to introduce you to the ACU Mission and provide you with an awareness of how we support a culturally safe workplace for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
These workshops are facilitated by the ACU team. To register, please follow the links to select your preferred date and time and complete your registration.
This interactive workshop provides an opportunity for staff to understand and participate in a discussion about the Mission and its importance at ACU, The Catholic Intellectual Tradition, and how the Mission aligns with work at ACU. Completion of this workshop is required within the first 3 months of employment.

Gain a greater awareness of the vast history and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

These conversations help to clarify the expectations of your role, including how to navigate the ACU environment to access the resources you need and to identify any further training needs that you may have. Regular catch ups with your supervisor provide the opportunity to discuss progress and provide feedback.
On commencement, your supervisor will organise a time to meet to discuss your role and to answer any questions you have.
Academic staff can also tap into the New Teacher Induction resource. This online module provides Faculty specific information and covers a range of other topics such as student communication guidelines, student support and handy faculty based timetable and SharePoint links. This module is designed to help guide teachers in their new roles and can be returned to at any time.
