The winner of the 2023 Vice-Chancellor’s Medal for Excellence is Associate Professor Laura Miller in recognition of her exemplar efforts to bring the ACU mission to life and create impact through empathy by empowering people with a disability and their caregivers to flourish and live to their fullest through the ENVISAGE initiative.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching gives recognition to lecturers renowned for the excellence of their teaching, and who have made a sustained, broad, and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education.
In recognition of his work both as a lecturer as well as the Academic Lead of INSPIRE, an initiative facilitating the university-wide implementation of research-led approaches to learning and teaching through which he has made a substantial impact on students’ learning, engagement, and overall university experience.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Teaching gives recognition to postgraduate educators renowned for the excellence of their teaching and research, who have outstanding teaching skills and have made a sustained, broad, and deep contribution to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in postgraduate higher education.
In recognition of her leadership of multiple units within the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, supervision of HDR students, and leadership of the Grants and Awards program through which she has had a substantial impact on students’ learning and engagement.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards is an annual awards program aimed at celebrating the achievements of ACU staff.

In recognition of liaising with over 100 partner institutions p.a. over the last three years, and working with approximately 250 students per year, providing more than 50,000 hours of pro bono legal work dedicated to helping the disadvantaged people, and thereby impacting the vulnerable in our communities.
Project: Cultural Mentors in Occupational Therapy Curricula Development team

In recognition of working as committed mentors with staff in an advisory, capacity-building manner to enable better understanding of the interface between Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways of knowing and learning in a university setting.

In recognition of their empathetic and conscientious approach to leading projects in key operational areas critical to the student experience. This approach and streamlined access to critical nuanced data has been a key factor in the success of several innovations which have positively impacted on teaching quality and also the staff experience.

In recognition of supporting the university’s mission to promote a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTIQ+ students and staff by adopting a pastoral mission frame.

In recognition of developing and implementing an extended and immersive interprofessional ‘ward for a day’ simulation experience for more than 2,200 nursing and allied health students across six campuses.
